Where we are: Perry started 11/2 — the back soffit is torn off in the backyard area. Micheal sent Perry a copy of the contract to print and sign; still waiting for his signed copy back. The $5,500 deposit was paid 10/31 (check #5994). Cooper gets $2,500 for the gutters once Perry is on the books. The remaining $5,500 is due to Perry at completion.
Oct 26, 2026. Kept for the history; replaced by the $11,000 final contract.

The plan (10/28)
Part
Who
Price
Fascia, trim and rear soffit
Perry Hudson (Hudson Windows)
$11,000 (asking him to agree; he'd offered it before)
New 6-inch seamless gutters (about 425 ft, 20 downspouts)
Cooper (Morgan Restore)
$5,000
Lift (50-ft boom, 1 week)
Church rents, unless Perry's price includes it
$1,580
Total
about $16,000 (about $17,580 if the lift is extra)
Cooper withdrew his fascia offer (10/28) but will still do the gutters for $5,000.
Cooper's terms: 20% deposit ($1,000) to buy materials, and about a week's notice when the fascia is finished, since gutters go on after Perry's fascia.
Confirm with Perry: is the lift included at $11,000 (his last offer included it), and get the $11,000 in writing in the church's name.
Cooper's estimate #1028 (10/28): $5,000 for "6' white gutters and downspouts." Ask him to add the details: 6-inch (it says 6'), seamless, about 425 ft, 20 downspouts, and removing the old gutters.
Earlier comparison (before Cooper withdrew)
Perry (Hudson), revised by phone 10/27
Cooper (Morgan Restore), estimate #1027
Price
$16,000, lift and gutters included (verbal; not in writing yet)
$15,000 + lift $1,580 = $16,580
Lift
Included (which lift? how many days? can we use it to power-wash?)
Church rents: 50-ft boom, 1 week, also for power-washing
Wood (fascia boards)
Only rotted sections: about 196 ft of 1×6 boards and supports
All new 1×8 sub-fascia, about 650 ft
Metal fascia/trim
About 641 ft, but 160 ft of that is brick-trim (frieze), so about 481 ft of fascia
About 650 ft of new metal fascia
Soffit
New rear soffit (165 ft)
Reuses the existing soffit
Gutters
Included (by Bobbie, his gutter friend): size, length and downspouts unknown
About 425 ft of 6-inch seamless + 20 downspouts
Visible rafter-tail repairs
"Limited damaged rafter tails"
Asked; waiting on answer
Offer
10% back to the church: built into the $11,000 price (Perry is covering it)

Not apples to apples yet. Perry's price is lower, and it includes the lift and a new rear soffit, but his wood work only replaces rotted sections (Cooper replaces it all), his metal covers less fascia, and his gutters have no details yet.
To compare fairly, Perry's revised quote needs to be in writing with the same gutter spec as Cooper's (about 425 ft of 6-inch seamless, 20 downspouts) and say what lift he provides and for how long.
Gutter value: what would the gutters cost on their own?
Gutters needed (red): 60 + 67 + 125 + 125 + 15 + 15 = about 407 ft
Cooper's gutters: 6-inch, 425 ft, 20 downspouts
Online estimate
Gutter, about 425 ft installed ($9–14/ft)
$3,825–5,950
20 downspouts, about 12 ft each ($6–10/ft)
$1,440–2,400
Old gutter removal
$200–400
Total
about $5,465–8,750
Cooper's estimate is one $15,000 price for fascia + gutters; Cooper said in person the fascia alone was about $10,000, so the gutters are about $5,000, below the online range.
He has a gutter machine, so they're seamless (one piece per run).
Online prices from Angi, HomeGuide and others (2026); a rough estimate, not a quote.
Cooper's measurements
Cooper's roofline sketch, 10/26: about 632 ft of fascia around the building
About 632 ft total, close to Perry's 641 ft, so both are quoting the same building.
Perry Hudson's quote: $14,500 + $1,580 lift = $16,080
Included: new trim on about 641 ft of fascia and brick trim, new soffit on the back (165 ft), rotted-wood repair, and cleanup.
Payments: $7,250 up front, $3,625 mid-job, $3,625 at the end.
Offered (text, 10/26): Perry would give 10% of his earnings back to the church. Settled 10/28: it's built into the $11,000 price instead (Perry is eating it), so there's no separate payment back.
Not included
The lift: the church rents it. 50-ft boom lift, $1,580 for a week. Added benefit: we can power-wash the whole building while it's here.
Hidden rot or termite damage beyond what's listed (must be approved in writing first).
How long the job takes.
What we're asking Perry (revised quote)
Put the $16,000 quote in writing, in the church's name (spelled Micheal).
Gutters: 6-inch seamless? About how many feet and how many downspouts? (Cooper's: about 425 ft, 20 downspouts.) Who installs them (Bobbie), and is Bobbie insured?
Lift: which lift (50-ft boom?), for how many days, and can we use it to power-wash while it's here?
Wood: only the rotted sections, or all-new boards like Cooper? Hidden damage: up to 5 extra rafter tails included, beyond that photos and a set price per rafter tail and per foot.
How long the job takes and a start date.
Warranty, proof of insurance, payment schedule (the old contract asked for $7,250 up front).
10% back: settled, built into the $11,000 price
What we asked Cooper (email, 10/26)
Board size: 1×8 or 2×8?
Included repairs: confirm the visibly damaged rafter tails and boards are included.
Hidden damage: include up to 5 more rafter tails if found; beyond that, photos and an agreed price first. A set price per extra rafter tail and per foot of sub-fascia.
Soffit panels: confirm replacing any damaged soffit panels is included.
Schedule: start date and how many days (to line up the one-week lift).
Warranty, a copy of his liability insurance, and payment terms (deposit and when the balance is due).
Photos of a similar fascia and gutter job.
Full quote details
Scope: tear off old metal trim and wrap about 641 ft of fascia/trim and brick frieze in new smooth white (and color) trim coil, plus 165 ft of new soffit on the rear of the church. Replace rotted fascia/1×6 boards, 2×4/2×6 supports and limited rafter tails in the damaged areas; haul off debris.
Price: $14,500 for materials and labor together. The contract does NOT break out materials vs. labor, and it gives no start date, finish date or how long the job takes.
Payments: $7,250 deposit to order materials, $3,625 during the job, $3,625 at completion. Checks payable to Perry Hudson.
Not included: the lift. The front and rear gables need a mechanical lift, and the church rents and pays for it (delivery and pickup too). Plan: rent it for 1 day, 2 at most, so all the lift work has to be scheduled back to back.
Lift (10/26): 50-ft boom lift, $1,580 for a week. Total with the lift: $14,500 + $1,580 = $16,080. Added benefit of renting the full week: we can also power-wash the whole building while the lift is here, at no extra rental cost, and there's room in the schedule if weather slips.
Hidden rot, termite or structural damage beyond the listed areas is extra and must be approved in writing first.
Before signing, ask Perry: (1) Put the contract in the church's name (Battlefield Christian Church) and fix the spelling (Micheal). (2) A clear breakdown: materials cost vs. labor cost. (3) How many days the job takes, a start date and a firm completion date (deadline). (4) Which days he needs the lift, and can all the gable work be done in 1–2 days so we only rent it once. (5) What lift (type and height). (6) Warranty on labor and materials. (7) Proof of liability insurance. (8) Can the deposit be lower or tied to material delivery? (9) Which color for the non-white trim.
Compared to the rough ~$10,000 he mentioned on 10/19, this came in higher, and the lift is extra. Worth getting a second quote.
Damage photos and what we found (Oct 13)
Long eave: rotted fascia board, soffit hanging looseCorner: rot under the shingle edgeGood section for comparison
The wood fascia board along the roof edge is rotted through and crumbling. It isn't covered with aluminum, so it has been soaking up water for years.
At the corner where the gable meets the eave, the rot goes into the board under the shingles (likely sub-fascia or rafter ends). The shingles hang over with no drip edge.
The vented vinyl soffit has pulled loose where the wood behind it rotted away.
Old wiring is strung along the eave. Have it checked or removed before the crew starts.
Some sections look fine (third photo). Ask each crew to walk the whole building and price the rotted runs separately from the good ones.
What to ask for: replace the rotted fascia/sub-fascia (and rafter tails where needed), wrap the fascia in aluminum, re-hang or replace the vented soffit, and add drip edge.
Referred by Micheal's brother Ryan through ABC Supply (10/14). Has the church address and is setting a time to come look. Show him the damage photos above.
CAME OUT 10/26 (fast, very nice). Quoted about $10,000 for the same scope as Hudson, replacing all the metal and putting up all-new 2×8 fascia; about $15,000 with new gutters. Church rents the lift. Measured the building (about 632 ft of fascia).
Houzz lists these local 'soffit repair' contractors without phone numbers: McCalla Builders (Corinth), Cook Construction (Rienzi), Colton's Home Improvements (Iuka), Campbell Construction (Belden).
Give every bidder the same scope: total linear feet of soffit and fascia, priced per linear foot, one material (vinyl or aluminum; vented helps attic airflow), and fascia wrap gauge/color.
Rot: on a 1972 building the wood behind the soffit is likely rotted in spots. Get a unit price per foot/board for replacing rafter tails and sub-fascia so surprise rot can't balloon the price. No wrapping over rotten wood.
Price gutters and drip edge as separate lines — gutters often come off to wrap the fascia.
Before signing: liability + workers' comp certificates naming the church, MS contractor license if over $10K, workmanship + manufacturer warranty, start date, cleanup and payment schedule. Ask about church pricing.
