- Before: the 811 photos (10/20) further down show the front lot before any work.
- Next: let the crusher run pack down and get rained on, then #57 stone on top in a few weeks.
What it could look like

- Option 1, all gravel: the whole front lot in #57 stone, up to the building and around the sign.
- Option 2, gravel + landscaping: the same parking, plus planting beds with mulch, shrubs and a small tree by the front of the building, a grass strip, and a bed around the sign base.
- These are AI mockups to show the idea; the real layout and plants are still to decide.
Utility marks: all done (Oct 23)

- All 5 utilities responded (MS811 notice Oct 23, 12:19 PM): AT&T phone/fiber CLEAR, ACE Power electric CLEAR, Corinth Gas & Water marked gas (yellow) and water (blue), City of Corinth marked sewer (green).
- The water line runs right past the sign planter: hand-dig anywhere near the sign and within 18 inches of each paint line.
- Color guide: WHITE = our dig area · RED = electric · YELLOW = gas · ORANGE = phone/internet (AT&T) · BLUE = water · GREEN = sewer · PINK = survey.
811 locate request: Ticket #26102012401223
- Submitted online by Micheal on Oct 20 at 12:11 PM; processed 12:40 PM. Covers both digs: the front parking lot (about 50 ft out × 200 ft, 4–6 in deep, for gravel) and the sewer trench out back (up to about 6 ft deep).
- Utilities must mark by Fri 10/23 at 12:40 PM. Rayburn can dig after that, once every utility has marked or cleared.
- Expires Mon 11/09 at 12:40 PM. If the work is still going, update the ticket between 11/3 and 11/4 (12:40 PM).
- Utilities notified: Alcorn County EPA (ACE Power), City of Corinth Sewer Dept, AT&T, and Corinth Gas & Water.
- AT&T sent a notice that this ticket is near an AT&T high-priority line: hand-dig within the tolerance zone, and report any damage to 811 and AT&T at (800) 247-2020, option 1.
- MS811 lists the address as 170 Purdy School Rd (aka Hwy 2), 2/10 mile east of N Harper Rd on the south side. Done by: Rayburn Coln. Done for: Battlefield Christian Church.
- The ticket says the site was NOT pre-marked: put the white flags or paint down now (front lot and the sewer trench path), before the locators come.
- Private lines aren't marked: the old sign's power line, and the water and sewer lines from the meters to the building.
811 dig safety (ticket #26102012401223)
- ✅ OK to dig: all 5 utilities answered by Oct 23 (ticket #26102012401223). AT&T and ACE Power: clear, nothing in the dig area. Gas, water and city sewer: marked with paint.
- Hand-dig within 18 inches of either side of every paint line: yellow = gas, blue = water, green = sewer. If anything gets hit, call 811 first, then the utility.
- Private lines 811 doesn't mark: find the old front sign's power line, and the water and sewer lines from the meters to the building, before digging near them.
- The ticket expires Mon 11/09 at 12:40 PM. If the work is still going, update it 11/3–11/4.

Quarries and haulers: #57 stone (call when it's time)
Decision: #57 stone (¾-inch clean crushed stone) from Vulcan Materials, Rayburn's recommendation. Quarries usually sell by the ton at the scale; a local dump-truck hauler brings it to Corinth. When calling ask: price per ton of #57, delivered price to 170 MS-2 NE Corinth (or haul rate), tons per truckload, minimum order, and how soon. Phone numbers are from listings; confirm when you call.

Gravel suppliers (delivered prices, Corinth 38834)
Online prices include delivery and run high. Also call a local quarry or a dump-truck hauler directly; buying by the truckload is usually cheaper. Ask Rayburn who he uses.

Notes
- Before submitting: mark the dig area with white spray paint or white flags, and have the address (170 MS-2 NE, Corinth, Alcorn County), the work type (digging out dirt for gravel, with a backhoe), and where on the property (front of the building).
- 811 only marks up to each meter or the property line. Private lines are on the church: the old front sign likely has a buried power line, plus water and sewer lines from the meter to the building. Ask Rayburn where the sign power runs before digging.
- Keep the email confirmation with the ticket number; the dig isn't legal until it arrives. Hand-dig near any marks (about 18 inches either side).
- How much 20 tons covers: about 14 cubic yards, roughly 1,150 sq ft at 4 inches deep (e.g. 30 × 38 ft) or about 1,550 sq ft at 3 inches. Measure the front area before calling so the truck brings the right amount.
- Rough cost (estimate until we call): #57 at the quarry is often about $25–45 a ton, so 20 tons ≈ $500–900, plus hauling one dump-truck load from Tuscumbia (≈ 50 miles) ≈ $250–450, so roughly $800–1,350 delivered. Online delivered prices (≈ $98/ton) would be about $2,000. Budget up to $2,000 until we have a real quote.
- One tandem dump truck carries about 15–20 tons, so 20 tons is probably one load. Ask Vulcan or the hauler for the exact tons per truck.
- #57 is clean ¾-inch stone: it drains well; rake it level after it's dumped and drive on it to settle it.
