Screens & video

Two big TVs up front and a confidence monitor, with SDI video from the balcony booth — plus a new SDI run to the nursery so they can stream the service there.

Where we are: Equipment ($687.48) has arrived. The coax was bought at Lowe's 10/28 and is at the church. Micheal got the 2 outlet boxes 11/2. The TVs are still to buy. New: running more SDI (coax) out to the nursery so they can stream the service there too, and pulling power for that feed and for behind the stage.

Equipment arrived · outlet boxes bought

All the equipment except the TVs has arrived (ordered 10/28 on Amazon). The coax was bought at Lowe's 10/28 and is at the church. Micheal got the 2 outlet boxes 11/2. Still to buy locally: exterior silicone. Micheal is buying the coax crimper and stripper himself.

Everything except the TVs: mounts, converters (plus a spare), HDMI, coax and connectors, $687.48 before tax, with Amazon buy links. The coax ($71.68) is picked up at Lowe's in Corinth by Micheal, not in the Amazon cart. Updated Oct 20, 2026.
Still to buy: 2 front TVs + the 65″ confidence monitor
The options and prices are below. The church can buy them whenever it's ready; everything they plug into is in the proposal.

Two big TVs on the front wall, one each side of the baptistry, plus a 65″ confidence monitor on the front of the balcony facing the stage. The temporary sound booth is a table in the back-right corner of the balcony. Front video goes from the booth computer over SDI on coax (no delay to fight). The route: found a way to run it inside the same wall the whole way, from the booth to the TVs — no longer goes outside or depends on the soffit being open. One coax and one Cat6e network cable run together. Also running an additional SDI feed out to the nursery so they can stream the service there, with its own power pull — same inside-the-wall approach, using attic space instead of the soffit.

Install notes

  • Measure the real route: booth corner → along the top of the right wall → out where the ceiling drops → under the eave to the corner → along the wing's eave to the back door → inside to the converter. Add 15%. 3G-SDI is good to about 328 ft on RG6, and the 500 ft spool covers both runs.
  • Outside: keep the coax tight under the eave, clipped every 2–3 ft (into the mortar joint at the top course or the fascia board). Drill the wall holes sloping slightly down toward the outside, leave a drip loop before each hole, and seal with silicone. Put the BNC connectors on indoors. Run the coax and the Cat6e together (one of each). Plan: have both cables ready before the soffit crew starts, so they go up inside the new soffit instead of being clipped under it.
  • Set the computer to 1080p60. The Blackmagic converters and the splitter need no setup. Label every cable at both ends.
  • Mount with two people, into studs. Center the TVs about 60–72″ above the platform, tilted down if they're high. Check the TV warranty: consumer warranties often exclude commercial or church use.
  • The confidence monitor mounts on the front of the balcony, centered and facing the stage. It runs off the booth computer's second video output (stage display in your presentation software) with the 35 ft HDMI along the balcony floor, so it doesn't need SDI.
